NOTES FROM BLAZE PLAYERS
ALUMNI EXPERIENCES

Dear Mike and Tim,

This summer has been an  exciting one for James.  He played for the Addidas Rochester Team and is looking forward to the Empire games next week.  The team is full of Blaze  players.  Most importantly, James was offered a scholarship to the  University of Delaware and he gave Coach Shillinglaw his verbal commitment  last week. UD is a beautiful school with a good business  program and they have a great lacrosse program with great facilities.

The coaching staff has watched James play and they believe he will make an  immediate contribution to their up tempo transition game. Nancy and I  are thrilled and we want to thank you guys for the excellent experience you  provided James as a Blaze player. Your positive approach and  instruction resulted in James improving not only his lacrosse skills but  his self confidence.

We recommend your program to our friends and we tell  them if their kids can play for the Blaze they should be able to play in college.  We are hoping that we can attend the Harvard Tournament  this fall as we really enjoyed it two years ago.

Thanks again,  AJ and Nancy Burke

TO: Blaze Lacrosse
FROM: Laurie Anne Bailey

Our three sons have played for the Blaze organization (Mitch,(08) Jake(11) and Luc(13)). All three of their experiences have been unique.

Our eldest son played at a time when we had to rely very heavily on the Blaze staff as we had an inactive high school coach. Our son Jake was afforded a great summer schedule from the Blaze paired with a very active high school coach (post season review sessions with players/parents, fielding calls from college coaches, sending out game/highlight tapes, recommendations to recruiting camps etc.).

The Blaze has afforded our boys the opportunity to play with other athletes who are committed to play at the next level, challenging their skills while having a lot of fun.

The recruiting "scene" has changed from when our oldest was going through this process. To play at the next level requires a lot from the player (getting good grades, being a good citizen, having a good work ethic..), a level of focus and commitment on the parents part (researching on the internet, sending out letters/emails, managing/sorting through perceived interest from schools, being HONEST with and about your son and their ability), having an active high school coach, and finally having your son have the opportunity to play with their Blaze team at high level tournaments, playing with kids from all over Rochester that can challenge them/push them to be the best player they can be.
